چکیده
The recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion Batteries) has drawn a lot interest in recent years response to the rising demand for corresponding high-value metals and materials mounting concern emanating from detrimental environmental effects imposed by conventional disposal solid battery waste. Numerous studies have been conducted on topic used Li-ion produce either or specific chemical, metal metal-based compounds. Physical pre-treatment is typically separate waste into various streams, facilitating effective recovery components subsequent processing. In order further prepare recovered compounds applying principles chemistry engineering, metallurgical process then utilized extract isolate pure contaminants particular stream. this review, current state outlined, reviewed, analyzed context entire process, with emphasis hydrometallurgy; however, electrometallurgy pyrometallurgy are also comprehensively reviewed. addition comprehensive review hydrometallurgical processes, including alkaline leaching, acidic solvent (liquid-liquid) extraction, chemical precipitation, critical analysis obstacles optimization during conducted. Moreover, energy-intensive nature discussed routes assessed addressed. This study anticipated offer recommendations enhancing wasted recycling, field can be explored commercialization.

Leaching Process for the Recovery of Valuable Metals from Spent Lithium- Nickel-cobalt-manganese-oxide-based Lithium-ion Batteries
This study focused on the leaching process for the recycling of Li, Ni, Co, and Mn from the LiNixCoyMnzO2 (NCM) cathodes of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Eh–pH diagrams were used to analyze suitable leaching conditions. Operating variables, such as the concentration of H2SO4 (0.5–2.5 M), concentration of H2O2 (0–1 vol%), temperature (10–50 °C), stirring speed (400–800 rpm), and solid/liqu...
متن کاملRecovery of cobalt and lithium from spent lithium ion batteries using organic citric acid as leachant.
In this work, a hydrometallurgical process based on leaching is applied to recover cobalt and lithium from spent lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Citric acid and hydrogen peroxide are introduced as leaching reagents and the leaching of cobalt and lithium with a solution containing C(6)H(8)O(7) x H(2)O is investigated. When both C(6)H(8)O(7) x H(2)O and H(2)O(2) are used an effective recovery of Li...

Electrochemical energy storage systems are categorized into different types, according to their mechanisms, including capacitors, supercapacitors, batteries and fuel cells. All battery systems include some main components: anode, cathode, an aqueous/non-aqueous electrolyte and a membrane that separates anode and cathode while being permeable to ions. Being one of the key parts of any new electr...
متن کاملMETALS RECOVERY FROM SPENT Zn-MnO2 BATTERIES BY HYDROMETALLURGY
A hydrometallurgical process for recycling spent Zn-MnO2 batteries was developed, involving leaching with sulfuric acid, purification by precipitation and metals separation for further recovery. Leaching of zinc oxide was easily attained while for manganese oxide was rather difficult depending on temperature and acid concentration. At 90oC and with the liquid/solid ratio of 20 L/kg, more than 9...
متن کاملClosed-loop Recycling of Nickel, Cobalt and Rare Earth Metals from Spent Nickel-metal Hydride- Batteries
Nickel-metal hydride batteries (Ni-MH) are storers of electrochemical energy, which have a higher specific storage capacity than lead or nickel-cadmium batteries. The demand for Nickel-metal hydride batteries is increasing rapidly since their market launch in the early 1990's. Today there is no suitable and sustainable recycling process to recover nickel, cobalt and rare-earth metals. The disca...
